Forever Knight fancast: Caroline Dhavernas as Janette DuCharme

All the talk about that Forever Knight movie got me thinking about what a legitimate reboot of the series would look like. I say legitimate because it should be something that continues the spirit of the original series and not something that simply takes the character names and puts them in scenarios that are trendy now. Is it a bit harsh to judge something sight unseen? Sure, but when there's precious little about it that seems promising well let's just say my expectations are very, very low.

My Tumblr is pretty much 90% Hannibal and so are the people I follow. Recently a photo of actress Caroline Dhavernas (Wonderfalls) popped up and someone commented on given how vampy she looked in the photo, her character of Alana would be great in the occasional Hannibal vampire AU fics that hit the fandom from time to time. It got me thinking that Caroline would make a lovely choice to play an updated Janette.

I have honestly no clue who could portray the rest of the cast, but I thought this was a fun way for me to try my hand at a photoset that them kids today like putting together.

It's been far too long since I've seen Wonderfalls but—going by looks alone—I'd say she's definitely a contender.

Oh I adore Wonderfalls. Based solely off of her work there I personally wouldn't have seen it, but to be honest I've never seen anything else she's been in other than that and Hannibal. Her Hannibal character is much more nurturing and mother hennish, but she is allowed opportunities to show a more steelier, darker edge from time to time.

I know she's the lead in a Canadian coproduction called Mary Kills People in which she plays a surgeon who moonlights with doctor assisted suicides.

Fancasting based on looks is fun but some of the fancasts I see out there for other stuff makes me cringe sometimes. People will just use models without considering acting ability. Either way, it's all moot.

Oh Wonderfalls gives me life. After Bryan Fuller's Hannibal ended I tried to console myself by watching his other short lived series, many of which I'd never seen. When I got around to Wonderfalls I fell in love. Dhavernas' Jaye is such a fun character.

She really is!
Right after my partner and I first watched it, we went to my parents' near Buffalo for Christmas -- hence, near Niagara Falls. We actually trooped around looking for the statue/fountain that figures in the series -- alas, it's not real, as we discovered via google only afterwards.
