So I haven't consistently written fic since 2009. I wrote Forever Knight fic for about 3 years. I wrote a Hunger Games fic in 2012 and I posted a Forever Knight fic in 2019 and in 2020 that had been sitting on my hard drive for years.

I only done this meme back in 2008. However, I fell down the La Femme Nikita rabbit hole last year during COVID lockdowns and the need to write stories for this fandom was incredibly overwhelming. I spent the back half of 2020 and early 2021 working on these stories and being very excited for them. I enjoyed my fic writing endeavors in the past, but writing in this fandom has been extra fun. Perhaps because I didn't feel any pressure other than to please myself. The impression that I had was that the fandom was pretty much dead. Even Forever Knight when I first started to write there had some active fan chatter. I didn't expect any sort of hits on my stories. Boy was I wrong. There are still LFN fans out there. It is very quiet out there but they do poke their heads out.

( 2021 Fanfiction meme )

I've been swimming pretty much solo in the La Femme Nikita fandom for the last year. Aside from my first vid in years (Yay!) it has manifested itself in my trying to write fic in the fandom.

I have three four LFN stories that are jockeying for position to be my first story in the fandom. The fourth one has kind of cheated its way in. The first 1500 words can sort of be a stand alone.

I’m genuinely curious to see which one in going to come out on top. I’m constantly writing in all of them. I think they’re all going to be in the 3,000-4,000 word range. Honestly, what's kind of kind of delaying them is the smut in them. I don't know why I keep trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Writing sex scenes is nowhere near a strength of mine. I do have four other LFN stories I'm working on that don't feature any smut, but they've stalled out a bit. In their case, it's mainly due to my other Achilles heel, plot.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am beyond charmed by this La Femme Nikita fanvid by Aleks22o/Countriee Bumkin that it's hard to put it into words.

It is so gosh darn delightful that I can't stop watching it. I love it so much! Everything about it is flawless.

Section One is an organization that expects its Operatives to disengage from their emotional sides. So Michael and Nikita don't really touch, except for when they do. Early on touch was used as another way to manipulate and seduce, but as the series progresses it starts to show comfort, solidarity, and understanding. Those moments are so powerful and by midseries handholding really does become a way for them to convey not only love but respect. On La Femme Nikita, a kiss on the hand is a gesture that carries just as much or at times even more weight to it than a love scene. So the theme of handholding on the show is so strong and to center a fanvid on that concept is beyond brilliant.

I love the clips of Michael and Nikita dancing just as the music really kicks in early on. Extra kudos for using the sequence when Michael slides Nikita's hand from his chest down to his waist and his...gun. ;-) The inclusion of Walter and his butterfly hand gestures was a lovely bit of whimsy. It's hard to pick a favorite part but the sequence with clips showing Michael helping Nikita up (through an elevator shaft, after a fall, after beating her senseless) might be it. The song used is a cover of the Beatles classic by T.V. Carpio off the Across the Universe movie soundtrack of the song and yeah chef's kiss.
