strategic automation (android AU)

Strategic Automation involves the fandom tendency to refer to Michael during missions as going into “Machine Mode” This is 100% fanon. It’s never been on the show, but it was a pretty common way to describe Michael. It describes the very focused headspace that he enters and how very methodical and indiscriminate he is and how detached he gets when the success of a mission is paramount. So I wanted to do an Android AU where Michael is an actual machine. It’s currently at about 11,000 words, which honestly surprises me. Lately, this story has gotten much more complicated as other elements that I hadn't expected started popping up and got incorporated. I can see the ending though. My current guess is perhaps around 16,000 words.
 

you are the space in my bed (movie star AU)

My favorite child right now is a Movie Star AU based on a fanvid that I saw. I absolutely LOVED the idea of doing something with this concept. Nikita is a rising Hollywood starlet filming in Europe and Michael is this boat restorer that she encounters and eventually has a love affair with. Of course Michael is extremely pragmatic and when Nikita’s film wraps, he advocates for the relationship’s end. Nikita wants to try long distance, but Michael is set on protecting his heart. This one has an obscene amount of smut. It’s actually kinda embarrassing. It’s also at around 42,000 words right now and about 80% of a satisfactory first draft. It went from under 1000 words to about 15,000 over the course of a week. I REALLY got into writing this story. I've currently got a 40+ song playlist, a Pinterest pinboard, and a curated list of Nikita's fictional movie career. I'm in deep with this one.
 

the world is falling (apocalypse AU)

Another story is an apocalypse AU based on the trailer to another Roy Dupuis project from 2021. He did a short film called, “Take Me To A Nice Place” in which he plays a man who roams an apocalyptic Quebec collecting genetic material for a cloning project. Roy is older and grizzled with long and graying Michael-like hair. His weapon of choice is a semi automatic with a laser scope. The movie shows him surveying abandoned buildings with the proficiency he would often display when playing Michael on missions. So I wanted to do a story where he and Nikita have managed to survive in the aftermath of an earth destroying event. I want this one to be short so I’m shooting for a story around 3000-5000 words.
 

a stubbornly persistent illusion (parallel universe AU)

Nikita is accidentally transported into a parallel universe where an older, solitary Michael is now Operations of Section One. This one is based on a portrait photograph of Roy Dupuis from a 2015 edition of Elle Quebec in which his styling is so very elegant and very reminiscent of what I imagine an older Michael would look like. There’s some timey wimey stuff doing on with this one. There’s also a squint or you’ll miss it borrowing from the spy series Counterpart that dealt with parallel universes and how the portal between the two worlds works. It’s more Section based so I’m struggling with that portion of the story. 
 

i'm bareboned and crazy for you (high school/college AU)

I started this high school AU a few months ago. It probably shouldn't even be included yet. I have no business writing this one because I definitely have enough stories to keep me occupied. However, it’s based on a line in season 3’s "Third Party Ripoff" from Michael to Nikita in which he asks her if Madeline instructed Nikita to stay away from him. The line delivery and scenario really struck me as being like some high school bad boy asking his girlfriend if her mom told her to stay away from him. I’ve got about 13,000 words for it. It really grew about two weeks ago. I got inspired. Nikita is this exemplary student enrolled in an international high school in Paris while she stays with her parents’ close friends Paul and Madeline. As she's nearing graduation, she's starting to question whether what she's been working for is really what she wants. She meets University student Michael and they start seeing each other. Paul and Madeline are concerned about the intensity of the fledgling relationship and are worried that Nikita dating an older and clearly more experienced man might derail all her potential. Nikita is 17 and Michael is 21. Michael is also involved with L’Heure Sanguine and they are showing signs of being the volatile group that they become. Questions of Michael's dedication to the cause come up as he spends more time with Nikita. And yes, Nikita does lose her virginity to Michael.
