Summary: Inside Section One, you have keep on breathing
Notes: Created for the 25th anniversary of the television premiere of La Femme Nikita in 1997.

Additional Notes: I'm no stranger to anniversary vids. My first vid ever marked the anniversary of the final episode of Forever Knight. A second anniversary vid was made for the premiere of the Nick Knight TV movie. With this vid I wanted to commemorate another anniversary and I wanted to do it in a way that was also visually interesting. I decided to do this rather last minute so this had to come together rather quickly. However, I did somewhat hamper myself with clips because I have a longer and I feel more nuanced series vid for LFN in the works. It's unavoidable to not duplicate clips in both vids but I did want to keep it to a minimum. This was also supposed to be an ensemble vid and I kind of failed in that respect. I started off okay but it quickly became the Nikita and Michael are awesome and oh so beautiful vid. My sincerest apologies to the other characters. My other series vid will not shortchange you.
I knew this was going to be a much more action oriented vid. I also wanted to incorporate more Section One scenes, like Comm or Systems. Yeah, that didn't happen. The action sequences weren't difficult but they do tend to be more Michael heavy. The Nikita sequences (aside from the shootout in 'Looking for Michael') were a little less interesting visually. There was the breaking in sequence during season 1's episode Choice but some of the shots didn't work and I'm saving one shot in particular for my other ensemble LFN vid.
I do feel like the vid is more Michael heavy than I would have preferred. It's also becoming clearer to me that LFN is a very guns heavy show. Yes, I knew that already but in my head I argued that it could be somewhat balanced by its fight scenes. The fight scenes in LFN are serviceable but not a highlight. It's shame because both Peta Wilson and Roy Dupuis were very athletic and I guess they didn't have the time to really craft fight scenes that didn't rely too obviously on stunt double and camera tricks.
There are three moments in this vid that I absolutely adore and they make me smile every time they pop up. The first is the solo Birkoff shot. I love how the camera movement jelled perfectly with the music. The second are the last closeup shots of Nikita and Michael. It looks like they’re giving each other “I can’t wait to get you in bed” eyes and while in the middle of Section to boot. The funniest thing about those two sequences is that not only are they from two different seasons but they’re not even looking at each other. And lastly, the gauzy and impressionistic shots over my title cards. They’re from the love slinky sequence in season 4 but with the scene extremely lightened. Those scenes were just hidden in there and not visible at all. Once I saw them, I couldn’t not use them. The love slinky is the scene that keeps on giving.
Also, I love that I was able to incorporate something from the scene of Michael putting some serious moves on Nikita from the opening of 'Sympathy for the Devil". It's a shame that the sequence was marred by the guest star and producer credits. And, let's not forget the deleted fully nude post coital scene from season 5 for the win. The shots were brief enough that YouTube didn't make me age restrict.
