abby82: (TW--team Torchwood promo (CoE))
I'm enjoying Torchwood: Children of Earth. I never did catch up on every episode of the series but I think it's safe to say that I've seen 75% of it.

However if I keep seeing promos for how it (CoE) is "how the X-Files movies should have been", I think I'm going to hurt somebody. Daily Variety can suck it as far as I'm concerned. Both FtF and IWTB were plenty enjoyable thank you very much.

Mwah ha. The computer is mine once more! Even if I have to get up at 5am on a Sunday to get a turn.

Everyone at home is on vacation, except for me, so there's been little computer time for me. Some interesting things I've come across while catching up.

Murdoch Mysteries has been sold domestically and will air on select PBS stations starting June 30th .Yay! It's a fun show and hey lots of crossover fic potential with Forever Knight. Julia is a professional precursor to Natalie )

Being Erica has begun filming their 2nd season. More yay!

BBC America has announced the premiere date for Being Human. It will premiere on July 25th. I can't wait to check it out.

The full trailer for Torchwood: Children of Earth is up at BBC America. It premieres July 20th.

Vanity Fair has a wonderful pictorial in which actors are given three scenarios and a photograph is taken of them expressing the topic. They're all fantastic. )

I posted six reviews of Geraint Wyn Davies at [livejournal.com profile] geraint_fans  of his performance as King Duncan in the Stratford production of MacBeth. Colm Feore plays the title role.

Television Without Pity offers their suggestions on five kids properties to cross to the big screen along with casting recommendations. Sign me up for almost all of these. )

Television Without Pity also suggests 13 TV shows that should get a reboot. Reboots both scare and intrigue me. )

ChillerTV was having a mini marathon of Polgergeist: The Legacy later episodes last weekend. Forever Knight's Kristin Lehman (Urs) had already joined the cast. So that's where Michael Sadowski ended up. )

I watched the pilot episode of The Listener on NBC, the latest Canadian import. Unfortunately, it was a little on the drab side. Former Forever Knight writers on staff )

The New York Times has an article about Canadian TV and the current crop of foreign coproductions. The Newsroom and Slings & Arrows mentions )

The Smallville season 8 DVD cover will be Clark and Lois in front of the Daily Planet logo. Very pretty. They did their usual red and blue color scheme on the wardrobe even though it's not what they were wearing. It'll be released August 25th.

Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for Smallville season 8 on DVD and boy is that thing not only NOT advertising season 8 but )

And lastly, I came across the official White House Flickr account. Lots of great photographs.

I've never really understood the appeal of the drabble. I've read several that I enjoyed but it's not something I pursue. Maybe it's because I have this little problem with brevity. Anyhoo, these are three Forever Knight drabbles that I recently come across and they are absolutely delightful.

Another Morgue, Another Town by [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper  (Forever Knight/Torchwood)

This crossover would never have occurred to me but works brilliantly. There are some great Nick and Nat lines and the possibilities of Nick and Jack crossing paths are endless. Originally written for tw100

To Permanence by [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper  (Janette)

If haven't checked out [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon  you're missing out. Gems like this fic keep popping up. This story captures Janette beautifully in so few words. And any insight into her management of the Raven is tops in my book. Originally written for [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon  and [livejournal.com profile] tv_100

By Rights by [livejournal.com profile] fickitten  (Janette/Natalie)

I've noticed that I have thing for Janette/Natalie. It's an itch that needs to be scratch and this drabble creates a nice scenario for it and suggests why there wasn't much Janette and Natalie interaction. By her own words, Janette is a glutton. I owe people responses. Both on LJ and email. I'm getting to them. Promise. :)

abby82: (I approve!)

So for a few weeks I've had this post I was preparing full of vid recs for tons of fandoms. It had links and lots of commentary on why I loved them. It was under the saved draft thing that LJ does. But last week I had a total brain lapse and when I was prompted on whether I wanted to retrieve the draft I pressed cancel instead of yes. Doh! Sometimes I copy/paste the text onto a text document just in case but apparently I didn't in this case.

So this time around to avoid any accidental stupidity on my part I'm simply going to post this list of Vividcon recs and I'll add thoughts later on.

I've compiled this list from the helpful postings at the [community profile] vividcon community.

The DVD release date for Life has been set for September 2. This sucker is totally priced to own with a SRP of $29.98 so I'm figuring a store price of around $25. Perhaps the price per episode comes out a bit high but if I enjoy this show as much as I'm anticipating who cares. Hopefully all the music remains intact but with its low SRP I have my doubts.  Hopefully they're unfounded because one of the biggest selling points for me about Life is its killer soundtrack.

~~~~~~~
The DVD release date for Smallville season 7 has been set for the following week on September 9th. I'm both excited and scared for that release. There are certain episodes that I'm very excited to see but I'm really not looking forward to the Lois/Grant story arc that pretty much went no where and has given Lois naysayers yet another reason to trash her. I understand what it's purpose was for but from what I gather from other fans the execution was quite lacking.
~~~~~~~~

The season 2 DVDs of Torchwood have also been announced for September 16. Nice cover but way out of my price range. It's the same reason why I haven't even thought about purchasing the 1st season, which I've yet to watch. I've enjoyed the show but not enough to pay that much for 13 episodes.

So a few days ago I was lamenting on what appeared to be a major dearth in Forever Knight videos. I noted that [profile] kristin1228 looked to be the only person out there currently making videos for the fandom. For the most part I still think it's true but not long after writing that post I stumbled upon the most awesomest of awesome FK video and I couldn't help but just sit there and grin like an idiot. And of course watch it over and over again.

Now I've always enjoyed the trinity of Nick, Janette and LaCroix.  It's a great balance and contrast to the Nick, Natalie, Schanke trio but as I watch the video for the umpteenth time I can't help thinking to myself, "Boy are these three beautiful together."
