I promised pics of my vacation for those who may be interested. However, I took so many pictures that I have to divide my posts by state. I'm starting with New Mexico, then proceeding with colorful Colorado and finally Texas. We also passed through the panhandle of Oklahoma (all 30 some odd miles of it) but it was my turn at the wheel so no pictures from that state.

This is not dial up friendly so consider yourself warned. :-)

My parents and I drove in from our week long west Texas/ New Mexico/Colorado vacation about two hours ago. I need to catch up on tons of things online but for right now I'm going to check up on my email, get ready to do my share of the laundry and sort through all my photographs. I'll be sharing a few later on because the landscape was absolutely breathtaking. We saw mountains! Actual mountains and we even went to the top of Pikes Peak.

We planned out a tentative itinerary for the New Mexico/Colorado road trip and our first night will be in Roswell, New Mexico. While checking out the hotel situation online I was finding that a lot of them were booked solid. Further investigation revealed that the Roswell UFO Festival runs through the 4th of July weekend. That is hilariously funny. I'm not an "aliens are among us" person but I'm so jazzed. I must find a kitschy inflatable alien to bring home.

Before reading about the festival I had visions of Mulder and Scully in their little motel room in Roswell from the XF series finale. I revisited a few of my favorite post "The Truth" fic to get in the mood. Now I've got visions of the Roswell season 1 episode "The Convention"in my head. I rewatched the entire series last month and this is very fresh in mind. Although, I don't think Jason Behr will be manning the information booth.

I need a Roswell icon or two. Also, I received the Blood Ties DVD in the mail today. Now I can watch the series properly or at least the first half of it. I'm very pleased about that.

Drove back from Austin last night. High temperature records were shattered the four days I was there and my workshop was in a poorly air-conditioned room. We were packed in there like sardines but it was highly informative. Although, I was dangerously close to Information overload, lol.

I got a hair cut while there and I reworked portions of my Tracy fic (Thanks [livejournal.com profile] brightknightie!) so I did manage to be somewhat productive in between my sessions and hanging out in the city.

However, it looks like I'm hitting the road once more later this week. Dad asked if I'd be interested in sharing driving duties with him on a road trip through west Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. It's going to be a week-long family thing with two of my uncles and their families. I've never taken vacation time at work so why not. Although, now I have to rethink whether or not I'll be attending my college roommate's wedding in Mexico later this summer. I don't know if I want to take two weeks off of work, even if they are two months apart.

Oh! I received my [livejournal.com profile] cliche_bingo  card and several of my guilty pleasures are in strategic places. Yay!
