HANNIBAL LECTER: "This is all I ever wanted for you, Will. For both of us."
WILL GRAHAM: "It's beautiful."
As the mournful strains of Siouxsie Sioux play us out with a song she wrote exclusively for the show, we bid a bittersweet farewell to a show that had no business being as good as it was. It was strange, it was unpredictable, and it was exquisitely nightmarish. It's a 'fever dream blood opera" series costar Hugh Dancy once called it and boy was he right. It's a show that concluded every season unknowing whether it would be its last. With every season finale they upped the ante. As the show got more and more avant-guard NBC continued to not know what to do with it. A cable quality show with cable ratings on network television was not an ideal situation. The gentleman cannibal might someday dine again and "the most interesting chapter in Will Graham's story" might be closer than we think. As long as the stars align in our favor.
